Chico Journalism Grad Dies in Merced County Crash — Dec 31, 2016

Eva Cuarenta, a 26-year-old journalism student from Chico State University, died in a car accident on December 23rd, 2016 in Merced County when she crossed the center divider in her Chevy Malibu and hit another car head-on while her way home from Disneyland.

Cuarenta had studied public relations and marketing. She graduated in 2013. While she went to school, she worked as an account executive for Tehama Group Communications. She also worked as a student assistant in the Journalism and Public Relations Department. She returned home to Modesto after graduation to work in Stockton at the Niagara Bottling Company. She enjoyed traveling and Giants games.
