Crash in Byron Kills One — July 11, 2017

One person was injured and another died Tuesday in a head-on crash between a minivan and a car on Byron Highway. The accident occurred at approximately 9:35 a.m. between North Bruns Way and Holey Road. The driver of a blue Honda Civic was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the gold Mazda minivan was airlifted to an area hospital with moderate injuries. According to witnesses, both vehicles were travelling at approximately 50 mph when the Honda jumped the double yellow line and hit the Mazda head-on. It is as yet unclear whether drugs, alcohol or a medical emergency played a part in the crash.
