Crash on Highway 147 Attributed to Distracted Driving, September 1, 2016

A small dog caused a Susanville driver to drift across the double yellow line on Highway 147 along the east side of Lake Almano. The driver, 24-year-old Shakrysta Davidson, drove into the direction of 2013 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Michelle Carpenter, 34-year-old, of Lake Almanor.

The section of the road the accident occurred on is extremely curvy and difficult to drive. Davidson was distracted by her dog and when she searched for him she drifted across the lanes. She looked up in time to see the approaching vehicle just as Carpenter also tried to steer away. The two women managed to avoid a direct hit bit clipped the front ends of their cars. No one was hurt but both cars were moderately damaged.
