Four Car Crash Closes Bay Bridge for Hours -- Dec 5, 2017
A four-car crash shut down two westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge, causing major traffic delays at the start of the afternoon commute Tuesday, authorities said. The crash was reported at approximately 2 p.m. on the west side of the Yerba Buena Island Tunnel, said the California Highway Patrol. The far-right lanes of the bridge headed to San Francisco were reopened an hour later. One person was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Several others were treated on the scene. Lane 14 leading up to the Bay Bridge toll plaza remained closed after a box truck driver slammed into it, killing the toll collector and injuring several others.
