Fresno’s Deadly Memorial Day — May 31, 2017

Fresno found itself with some deadly accidents this Memorial Day weekend. One resident died and four more were injured in two different car accidents throughout the weekend. A 22-year-old woman died in a Madera accident, leaving her two passengers, aged 27 and 23, with major injuries. She had been traveling east of Road 211 on Road 145 at approximately 9:15 pm when she made an unsafe turn and shot off the roadway in a 2012 Chrysler. None of the car’s occupants were wearing seat belt and all three were thrown from the car. The driver died from her injuries. Authorities believe alcohol played a major part in the accident. Another accident occurred over the weekend when a Lemoore man died and two people from Fresno were hurt in a three-car crash near the Copper Avenue intersection on Friant Road. At around 9:40 am, a report of a collision involving two motorcycles and a car came into California Highway Patrol. The 90-year-old, female driver of the car, a 1998 Ford Taurus, driving 25 mph southbound, turned into the path of the two motorcyclists entering the intersection. They were thrown from their motorcycles and received major injury.
