The driver in the fatal crash in a Glendale parking lot Thursday afternoon was identified as an 87-year-old Glendale woman, Los Angeles County coroner’s officials said.

The woman, identified by coroner’s officials as Ana Cabot, along with a female passenger, was killed after her car crashed into a concrete pillar in the Ralphs supermarket parking lot, located on the 200 block of North Glendale Avenue.

The passenger, also 87, was not identified pending the notification of next of kin, who may be out of the country.

The car, an older model Mercedes sedan, was traveling at an unsafe, high rate of speed as it entered the parking lot through the Wilson Avenue entrance, before crashing into the pillar, as well as into two parked cars.

Both Cabot and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
