Head On Crash on Highway 70 Kills Two — August 9, 2017

A head-on crash on Highway 70 between two vehicles occurred early Tuesday morning. Both drivers were killed. One was a longtime employee of the state Department of Transportation. The wreck happened close to Oroville, south of Ophir Road, on Highway 70 at 5:45 a.m. The roadway is only two lanes in that stretch. The wreck was caused by a female driver driving a 2001 Ford Taurus with no headlights who was trying to pass a 2006 Chevy HHR at high rates of speed. She slammed into the male driver, identified as Paul Inman, a Paradise resident, coming from the opposite way. He had been a Caltrans employee for 16 years.
