Three lanes of traffic just south of the Central San Raphael exit were temporarily blocked Monday morning when a semi-truck with attached crane crashed on U.S. Highway 101 northbound. It was discovered by police that the driver of the truck had a blood alcohol level of five times the legal limit. The reports of the accident began to come into police headquarters at 8 a.m. and by 8:12 the sig alert had been issued. Police arrived to find the flatbed truck and crane turned over on its side, blocking three lanes of traffic. The truck was traveling about 55 mph when the intoxicated driver flipped. The truck was carrying two people as well as a load of I Beams. When the occupants were transported to the hospital for their minor injuries, it was discovered that the driver was drunk. Traffic was completely reopened by 11:30 a.m.
