Multi-Car Crash on Hwy 17 Kills One, Injures Four — Oct 10, 2017
A violent multi-car accident in Los Gatos took the life of one person and injured four others on Highway 17 Monday night at approximately 6:00 p.m. near The Cats Restaurant and Bar. There is a safety hazard in this area where a large space in the cement wall dividing the north and southbound lanes opens for northbound drivers to make a left turn. Forty-four-year-old, Pinole resident, Armond Cobb was driving a Ford F-550 2016 model as he changed lanes, lost control and hit a wall. He slipped through the gap in the wall and into oncoming traffic. He hit a Toyota Tacoma, 2008 model, and then a Toyota Camry head-on. Continuing in the right lane, he hit a 2014 Kia Sedan. The roof on the Kia ripped open and the driver flew across the road. Cobb’s Ford flipped several times and stopped on its roof on the shoulder of the road. The Kia driver died on the scene. She has been identified only as a 19-year-old resident of San Jose. Cobb and a passenger in the Kia were treated for minor injuries. The Tacoma driver refused medical help.
