No Injury in Accident That Took Down Cable Line — Oct 25, 2017

At approximately 4:20 p.m. on Monday, California Highway Patrol answered a call on an accident at the cross of Mitchel Road and Carlson Lane just outside Mrytletown in Eureka. California Highway Patrol officers reported a black car travelling west swerving in and out of its lane. It hit a power line pole on the side of the road. It snapped in half and the line collapsed on top of the black car. The only occupant of the car extricated himself from the car uninjured. According to the driver, he swerved to avoid oncoming cars that had deviated into his lane. California Highway Patrol did not confirm this to be true. Traffic was blocked for over an hour while responders determined whether the downed line was dangerous. PG&E was called to the scene. They declared the line safe to move and traffic was able to continue. CHP investigated the crash but made no arrests.
