Patterson Crash Impales Car, Delivers Major Injury to Driver — July , 2017

An early Saturday evening car crash resulted in major injuries for driver when his car was impaled by a guardrail after he crashed into a bridge barrier close to Patterson at the San Joaquin River. He had been on westbound West Main Avenue in his tan Hyundai Elantra. It was approximately 5:30 p.m. He drifted off the roadway to the right for unknown reasons, traveled through more than 50-feet of wood posts and hit the guardrail. A horizontal metal rail crashed through the front windshield, through the car and out the back window. When it came to a rest it was still impaled and the rail had hit the drivers head. He suffered major lacerations. Roads were shut down for up to 20 minutes after the accident. The driver was coherent and transported to an area hospital for treatment.A deadly crash occurred around 4:05 a.m. Sunday morning in the Glen Ellen area of Sonoma County. It happened at Highway 12 and Dunbar Road. A car left the roadway and slid d own an embankment. It caught fire immediately.
