Police Chase Leads to Fiery Los Altos Hills Crash — Dec 22, 2016

A police chase along Highway 280 ended in a fiery crash and an arrest in Los Altos Hills. Matthew Bland, a 36-year-old San Leandro man failed to yield near Sand Hill Road in Portola Valley and police gave chase, reaching speeds upwards of 110 mph. Officers lost sight of the black 2011 Toyota Bland was driving as he exited at the Magdalena Avenue ramp. The Police were searching the city streets for Bland when they received a call from dispatch about a burning vehicle near the off ramp. The Toyota driven by Bland had crossed over both on and off ramps where it flipped on its side and caught fire. Bland was found close to the burning vehicle and transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
