Redding Pedestrian Killed in San Jose Car Crash — Oct 7, 2017

A 66-year-old man walking across South Bascom Avenue Thursday was hit and killed by a car. Reports first came in at 8:24 p.m. for help near the 3300 block of South Bascom Avenue out front of the Bristol Hotel. Initial investigation reports said the victim had been crossing on the east side of the road as a Honda Accord with a 52-year-old woman at the wheel. The pedestrian, David Kepler, was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The woman driver stopped and cooperated with police. There was no designated crosswalk. The accident marked the city’s 15th traffic fatality of a pedestrian of the year 2017 and 37th traffic fatality.
