Tuolumne Road Crash Kills Modesto Woman -- Dec 2, 2017

An incident occurred on Tuolumne Road east of Westside Road on Saturday at 1:25pm. The California Highway Patrol reported 73-year-old Jean Claire Simmons of Modesto was driving a 1999 Toyota Corrolla when she drifted off the road. That caused her to overcorrect and eventually hit a rock hillside on the north side of the road. She was the only occupant of the car. Simmons was flown to a medical center in Modesto. She was pronounced dead. It is probable a second vehicle was involved in the crash and that it fled the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. An investigation is ongoing.
