Vacaville Man Convicted of Fatal DUI Awaits Sentencing

A fatal DUI crash in 2014 left one best friend dead and the other living. Gary Woodgate, 24 and John Snyder, also 24, were best friends and hung out together quite a bit. They would often party and drink with each other and a group pf mutual friends. In October of 2014, after leaving a party Gary decided to drive. He lost control of the 2001 Chevy Silverado and caused it to roll. Snyder was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from the truck. Gary was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and two felony counts of driving under the influence (DUI) causing injury that he still hasn’t been sentenced for. He accepted a plea deal in the case in September. Solano County Superior Court judge Peter B. Foor delayed sentencing in November of 2015 after convincing arguments were made both for and against granting probation. Prosecution wanted 7 years, 8 month in prison. The defense asked for probation. Judge Foor is seeking additional information on the case before sentencing.
