Seven people were injured in a five-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 99 and Arno Road, in Wilton.

The Cosumnes Fire Department said six people were taken to the hospital for treatment Saturday afternoon. Their injuries ranged from minor to moderate.

The California Highway Patrol said a driver on the phone did not see traffic slow down, crashing into the vehicle in front of her. That crash caused a domino effect and led to the other vehicles crashing into one another.

The crash caused a traffic backup on the highway. A Caltrans camera showed traffic was moving slowly at least 5 miles from the scene. The roadway was opened to traffic more than an hour after the crash.
